The Scottish Athletics Archive is where you can find historical information about the sport in Scotland.

The core part of the work is the athletes' track and field records. These records (where complete) include each athlete's name, date of birth, clubs, year by year ranking records, and championship record. It is supported by further information with the top 10 rankings by event for each year, the record of Scottish champions in the period, and further information on district champions, age-group champions and schools champions.

There are pages covering road racing, ultra running, cross country and hill running as well as the track and field information.

Such information will always be incomplete or contain errors, no matter how accurate we try to be. If anyone can provide corrections and/or additional information, no matter how minor, and photographs for inclusion, all such items will be gratefully received. Please email [email protected]. 

Ranking lists are shown for each event for each year within the period from 1959 to 2020. The top ten are shown. These may not always correspond to rankings shown at the time for the following reasons:

• If performances have been identified that were not included within the rankings at the time, such performances have been adjusted for;

• Wind-assisted performances are not ranked;

• Non-Scottish athletes are included in the rankings without being given a ranking position;

• Field events which were originally recorded in feet and inches have been converted to their metric equivalents.
