Born: Andrew James Butchart, Stirling, Scotland. Club: Central AC. Coach: Derek Easton.

Andrew Butchart has taken massive strides forward since missing out on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to break long-standing track records and qualify for the British team for the Olympic Games in 2016.  A slow starter in the sport, he "only really started to develop as I moved into the senior ranks. So my advice to younger athletes would be to just stick at it. Don’t be worried if you are losing races just now, everything can change over time". Ligament damage sustained in early 2014 prevented him from achieving the required Commonwealth Games standards in 2014 but at the end of the year he represented GB at the European Cross Country Championships. This was followed by 2015 representation at the World Cross Country Championships and the European Cup 10000 metres. In 2016, he broke the Scottish 3000 metres and 5000 metres records and won the British Championships.
